Effectiveness of Right-Brain Therapies

Research has now shown that many people with traumatic experiences are unable to connect with many aspects of those experiences verbally. In fact, often these experiences can only be accessed through what are generally considered as “right-brain” processes, e.g., somatic experiences, imagery, and hypnosis.

These affectively and somatically based methods are effective with the full range of symptoms and character disorders. These approaches are generally creative and playful, leading to the discovery of new solutions to old problems and to the development of new internal resources. These methods can be integrated into any therapeutic model.
